When people hear the name of the hormone insulin, they automatically associate it with diabetes, since patients with Type 1 diabetes in particular inject the hormone into their bodies during low levels of blood sugar (hypoglycemia), so that glycogen is immediately transported into the cells. In recent decades, however, insulin has become a substance that is being abused by people building muscles.

Insulin in muscle building plays two roles. First, it causes an increase in the mobilization of transport of glycogen and other nutrients into the muscles, so that a bodybuilder has greater stamina and can therefore exercise for longer periods of time. Secondly, the hormone is utilized to enhance muscle growth. In this case, insulin intake is partnered with steroid use for maximum muscle bulking.

What makes insulin a much abused substance among athletes is that, unlike steroids, the hormone disappears immediately after injection, so that it is undetectable through routine drug tests. Even if insulin is detected, doctors could not determine if the hormone was obtained extraneously, considering the fact that the body itself (specifically the pancreas) produces insulin as well.

Insulin abuse puts a body builder at a high risk of developing prolonged periods of hypoglycemia, which may result in serious complications, such as coma and death.

The Shower is Ready to Go Again

When we bought this home we knew that sooner or later we were going to have to do something about the shower in the front bathroom. What we didnt realize is that less then a year later wed have to be doing it because the shower was leaking onto the bathroom floor. We knew that we needed a shower basin in place there but neither me or my husband are experts when it comes to plumbing to be honest. Fortunately a friend of ours is and he suggested we go with tile redi niche. It was easy to install, its made of very durable materials and we could quickly put down our choice of tile on it with out any difficulty. Now the shower is up and running better then every, which gives our oldest son a place to shower in the morning before he goes off to college classes.
